Or have that swim in the sea that has been called the “aquarium of the world” by oceanographers for its protected sea life. From your perch on the villa patio, you can watch whales during their seasons of migration, or see them up close when you order up a whale-watching tour from your dedicated concierge. Whatever your wish, it is within reach for the asking with Del Mar’s dedicated staff. As you explore the interiors of this grand Los Cabos villa, you’ll find that no two rooms are alike. Décor maintains a low-key theme that mixes tasteful colonial and pre-Columbian Mexico with contemporary plush appointments. Deep hardwood furnishings and ceiling accents complement the travertine stone flooring and wrought iron lighting fixtures, all adding nicely to a sense of place. Find three master bedrooms at this Los Cabos villa with king beds, private verandahs overlooking the sea, and large stone and tile bathrooms with double vanities, stone tiled shower closets and soaking tubs framed by picture windows. In other rooms find a queen bed and two double beds, dressed in artful, if not exotic, décor schemes. All rooms, except the twin double accommodations, open onto ocean views. Head into the gourmet kitchen and have coffee or snacks around a granite island counter as your dedicated chef, as well as friends and family members, busy themselves with various food preparations. There’s room enough for a few cooks in this modern kitchen. A formal dining room nearby seats eight. Walk just a few paces more to a large round marble outside dining spot that also seats eight. The indoor/outdoor flow here ensures that large parties can have an ensemble feel and choose between a formal indoor or casual outdoor experience. By the dining room is a family room setup that could, in fact, manage two families with sitting configurations, one across from the other, offering casual rattans in one and formal couch and chair modes in the other. A third more formal living room setup is off the open marble foyer accented by Tuscan-style columns and wood beams. One of the highlights of Villa 498 is the Balinese pavilion off the patio that centers around an outdoor fireplace and offers a hanging loveseat and a conversation pod. Each corner of this Los Cabos villa brings in creative design details that inspire and stoke a sense of awe. Most of the life takes place outside, however, and the pool and Jacuzzi are the stars here as walls disappear between the indoors and outdoors and second-story verandahs drink in the ocean views.
