The Liberty Style, also known as Art Nouveau, was a popular architectural and decorative style that emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Visitors to Palermo can admire the city's Liberty Style architecture looking at the Teatro Massimo, the Palazzo dei Normanni, also known as the Royal Palace, Villa Trabia, Palazzo Sant'Elia, and the Palazzina Cinese. In the same style that showcases the intricate decorative details and flowing lines, Villa Raggiosa was built in Mondello at the beginning of the 1900’s. Mondello is less 7 miles from Palermo and its beach is a long stretch of white sand surrounded by crystal-clear waters. It is popular for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports such as windsurfing and kiteboarding - in fact the town is home to the World Festival on the Beach, an international gathering that annually brings together various sporting events. There are also many restaurants, bars, and cafes along the beach, making it a great place to spend a vacation. Overall, Mondello is a great destination for those looking to enjoy the sun, sand, and sea while also experiencing the natural beauty and culture of Sicily.
