The name of one of St Barths most magnificent villas is as evocative as the home itself. As remarkable as a storied creature from mythology, the luxury rental property is known as Villa Blue Dragon has a way of defying expectations. While many guests who choose to book a vacation home expect to compromise on certain specifics, Villa Blue Dragon is designed to suit those who care about every detail - the owners hired local interior designer Elisa Bally, who did a marvellous job of seeing to that. The scope of the space is impressive (and well suited to big groups who want to share certain moments but also retreat to utter privacy), but the effect is only magnified once you take in the layering of luxury. Nature plays a starring role as well, as Bally's guiding principle was to integrate the outdoors and indoors. She took inspiration from the environment and elements around the house - the sandy beach, the turquoise Caribbean Sea, the rocks and trees around - and worked with them to create something magical. All the materials are light and airy, ensuring a seamless transition with the surrounding landscape. Villa Blue Dragon is one of the highest villas in Gouverneur, with better sea views than many homes on the island of St. Barth have, but still a quick jaunt down the hill to the beach. It's also just minutes from the shops and restaurants of Gustavia. That said, it is awfully tempting to stay put and take in the spectacular views from above. You can see the sea from every room in Blue Dragon. The villa is built so that it unfolds over several levels. On the main level, there is a living area with ample seating on comfortable sectional sofas, a dining area with a sleek table that easily seats 12, a well-equipped kitchen, and a cold room in which you can store a lot of ingredients and which is very convenient for a chef or butler to store and prepare meals and drinks - and Rental Escapes' concierge can arrange whatever you need to make your vacation more comfortable and delightful. One of the bedrooms is on the same level as the living and dining areas, and it has a king bed, a private terrace, and an en-suite bathroom. The other bedrooms are spread out across various levels of the property. The master bedroom is up a flight of stairs, and it has a spacious sun deck, a large dressing room and walk-in closet, a king bed, and an en-suite bathroom. Four more identical bedrooms are two levels below in two separate pavilions, each of which shares an outdoor living area and a small kitchenette. Every room has a sofa bed that can be used to accommodate an extra child or adult. On the floor between the bedrooms is a well-equipped fitness room and of course the villa's heated infinity pool, one of its main attractions. On the deck near the pool are an outdoor kitchenette, a gas barbecue grill, and an outdoor shower.
